26365
Yesterday I went up to London to meet DD and have a fun day together. We didn't really have any plans since the exhibition I wanted to see at the V&A had finished at the end of January. In the end we walked to her flat and had a nice lunch, went to see the 26,365th production of The Mousetrap, called in at the National Portrait Gallery (always my favourite) and then had a great dinner out. It was a smashing day and, as a bonus, my Fitbit tells me we walked about 6 miles. It really didn't feel anything like that.
These days together are rare as she works so hard. That makes them especially precious.

Still on target
My (much) younger brother phoned yesterday and asked if I'd like to go for a walk. "It's not too far and it won't be like last time" he promised. Last time we ended up plastered in mud and wet through! Well, it was a nice day and I needed to get a few more miles under my belt for the 1000 mile challenge so I was up for it.
No, it wasn't like last time. This time it was largely uphill as well as being ankle deep in thick, sticky mud! By the time we'd finished I was exhausted and today the muscles in my bottom hurt. I thought I was getting fitter but clearly not. The sad truth is, it won't get easier until I lose about 4 stone. I wish I could get my head around that.
The good bit - 116 miles to date.
