New Year, new blog

2012 was not an easy year and 2013 will be just as challenging.  To help me cope I've decided it's time to stop standing at the side of the blogging pool but to dip my toe in.  I can't promise very interesting content and my technical ability is very limited but I shall try to muddle through.  After all, that's what most of us do all the time, isn't it?
